The construction itself will take 20 acres of land. The Éco-Campus Hubert Reeves aims to respect the natural environment on which it will sit. This should be made possible with the latest clean technologies.
This construction project is expected to maintain and even improve the ecosystem already in place said M. Ouellette. Several measures will be taken ensure the objectives are meet. For example, the wetland located on the site will be preserved and the building will be accessible by a bike path and public transportation.
Sylvain Ouellette wants to "humanize the Technopark". Innovations are the key to success he said. The clean technology industry is bubbling and continues to develop, said M Ouellette. For him, the éco-campus is a way to integrate Montréal to nature with a new form of work place form which will emerge different way of doing things.
Hope for Hubert Reeves
The guest of honor, Hubert Reeves, told participants that he would of never guess a building could have his name one day.
Getting more and more worried about the environmental hazards in the '80s, Reeves decided to focus on earth's atmosphere. Since two forces clash he said. The first is the deterioration of the earth thrust the increasing greenhouse gas emissions. The second is a conscience's awakening. "What happens today is part of that. This day is a good one "he added.
