The new president
After being at the head of the chamber for the last three years, the former president, Norman Chenail was congratulated by the assembly for his previous work. None the less "It's good for the chamber to welcomed new ideas, new approaches and evolves" according to M. Chenail.
It is in this warm and open atmosphere that William Habib was presented as the new president. He will take the lead of a financially healthy institution. The chamber of commerce and industry has accumulated a surplus of $43 000 this year. Mr. Habib wants to consolidate this good financial situation due to tight management of expenses as believe by the new president.
Highlighting the successes of his predecessor, M. Habib shared his desire to provide more services in English, as more and more of his members are English speaker. The new president hopes to officialise the extension of the territory covered by the chamber by changing the name of this institution to The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Saint-Laurent and Mont-Royal. This administrative process started under the previous president. With the addition of many new potential members, M. Habib wishes put his energy on recruitment.He would like to increase the media coverage of the chamber in order to bring certain issues to the public eye or even to help the promotion of some members while increasing the chamber's visibility.
A new council
The Chamber's council regroup the new president, the three vice-presidents Éric Daignault, Dany Gallant et Jean Touchette. Sylvain Reid is treasurer for the year to come. Paul-André Dumont is the council secretary for another year in a row. The former chamber's president, Normand Chenail, is replacing Jean-François Parent as the council's president. M. Parent is now a special consultant for the Chamber.
