A former councillor is angry
Charles Benchimol, who used to be an advisor for Saint-Laurent's borough, complained about the slowness of the Board to fix the parking problems on Saint-Louis street, a cul sac in a residential area. The mayor of Saint-Laurent, Alan DeSousa told the file would be taking care of next week. Clearly dissatisfied with this response, Mr. Benchimol told him "you leave us to deal with the problem. That is not right."
After Mr. DeSousa told him that studies were still ongoing and that further steps should be taken, the former city councilor said "You know my love for municipal olitics. Do not make me come back. I don't want to turn this into something personal, but you have reign as master without any opposition for the last 12 years" . Mr. DeSousa said to Nouvelles Saint-Laurent News he find that critic strange since there has never been so much work in Saint-Laurent's streets.
Investments for our streets
Laurentians should be prepared to see work in Saint-Laurent. An investment of $4 653 255.31 has been announced for the repairs of pavement on various streets and for sidewalks and curbs of various streets. Genivar Inc. company., a consulting engineering firm, will be responsible for the work supervision.
Archaeologist found
This is the Ethnoscop company that was chosen for the archeological work at la Maison Robert-Bélanger. The contract is worth $99 095,34. "By this we'll get to exploit the archaeological potential of la Maison Robert-Bélanger" thinks Mr. DeSousa
Good news for an author to the region
Robert Blake, author of Jack et Koukie and Le bleu de l'espoir will received a grant from the borough council. The sponsorship of $ 500 will be used to distribute free copies of Le bleu de l'espoir, a children's story about child abuse.
