Gilbert Héroux stays on as Director General of Vanier College for another five years

A college-wide consultation and review by the Mandate Review Committee highlighted the many qualities Mr. Héroux brings to the position of director general. He is recognized for his inclusive management style, his intellectual and administrative leadership and his excellent communication skills. He is also seen as a visionary who understands the possibilities for Vanier, and as a tireless champion of the values of the College.

Since Gilbert Héroux came to Vanier on August 8, 2005, he has undertaken the development of a Strategic Plan to provide the College with a roadmap for the future and instituted a consultation process to receive ideas and input from the entire Vanier community. Gilbert Héroux has also focused on improving the College's learning environment and increasing the visibility and outreach of the College in the community. He has initiated local and international projects and partnerships with other colleges and universities, which have encouraged students, faculty and staff to travel and learn about life in other countries.

In making the announcement, Mr. Di Schiavi, Chairman on the Board of Vanier College, commented, “We look forward to the next five years under Gilbert Héroux’s leadership as the College faces the new challenges of evolving demographics, and positions itself to meet the educational needs of its students while responding to the demand for well-trained young professionals in the workplace. The Board is fully confident that under the guidance of Gilbert Héroux Vanier College will grow into the college of choice for students wishing to pursue their education in English in a dynamic and innovative multi ethnic environment.”
