Hooked Rugs
Hooked Rugs presents until April 16 contemporary works of four artists that chose to pursue a very old tradition: that of rug hooking.
These artists are Doris Eaton, Deanne Fitzpatrick and Margaret Forsey, from Nova Scotia, and Rachelle Leblanc from Québec. Among the genres they explore in their works, we find among others, the portrait, the landscape and the historical scenes.

We take this opportunity to present some of the hooked rugs from the collection of the Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec. It provides a look into the daily life of our ancestors and our Quebec traditions. They testify to the ingenuity of the women of the time to decorate their homes and to provide comfort to their families. Embedded with a life of their own, worn and torn, cut and sewn, they are a window to the past telling the story of proud and hardworking people that, long before it became a trend, were recycling the old to make the new using all they have to be self-sufficient.
