Major offensive against potholes in Saint-Laurent
On Saturday, March 29, Gérald Tremblay, the mayor of Montréal, as well as Sammy Forcillo, the member of Montréal’s Executive Committee responsible for infrastructure, roads and water management, were in Saint-Laurent to have a look at work being done to repair potholes on chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse.
As part of the Ville de Montréal’s “pothole operation” for 2008, repair projects were conducted in five places in Saint-Laurent between March 25 and 30. The potholes were repaired using thin asphalt, a new technique that, while more expensive, has a lifespan of four years. These repairs come on top of the 2000 potholes in Saint-Laurent’s service roads that were filled in between March 4 and 17. It should be noted that, at the beginning of the month, the Ville de Montréal announced that an additional $1.5 million would be added to the already budgeted $10 million to make necessary repairs to the 1000 km road network for which the city is responsible.
