Dorval resident gets 18 months in dangerous driving case
A Dorval resident was sentenced to 18 months in prison this morning in a Valleyfield courtroom in the dangerous driving case that left St. Lazare resident Patricia Jolicoeur with severe brain damage.

Jolicoeur, 28, was walking her dog near the corner of Yearling and Stallion Streets in St. Lazare on the evening of Nov. 29, 2006. Two cars driving side by side approached Jolicoeur, and one vehicle hit and seriously injured her.

Hakim’s sentencing comes nearly seven months after the Dorval resident pleaded guilty to dangerous driving last September. Hit-and-run and criminal negligence charges were dropped.

In addition to the 18-moth prison sentence, Hakim will not be allowed to drive for three years and will also be on probation for two years.

Jolicoeur, who was left with severe brain damage and paralysis, now lives in a chronic-care home in Pointe Claire.
