West Island: show us your best

Submissions for the Best of the West have been trickling in since The Chronicle first announced our West Island-wide search for the finest foods and perfect places earlier this month.

If you have a favourite spot to unwind at after a long day or a mouth-watering treat you love to indulge in, we want to hear about it, because we need your help to shine a light on the West Island’s finest.

Starting in June, our team of taste testers and spot selectors will set out on the gruelling task of determining the West Island’s best food and places in 12 different categories.

We’ll kick off the Best of the West series on June 18 by revealing the best pizza in the West Island. But to do that, we need to hear from you, so give us a call or send us an e-mail with your suggestions and a short explanation of why you think your chosen pie makes the Best of the West.

The 11 other categories will be revealed throughout the summer, so be sure to get your nominations in so your favourites make the list:

- on June 25, we reveal the best terrace in town;

- on July 2, cool down with the best ice cream;

- check out our July 9 issue to find the West Island’s best watering hole;

- get your chopsticks out on July 16 for the best General Tao chicken;

- on July 23, find out the West Island’s best family destination for your construction holiday plans;

- July 30 will be the dog day of summer when we reveal the best hot dog in the West;

- Aug. 6 is time for the tastiest French fries;

- get your picnic blankets out for Aug. 13 when we’ll reveal the best scenic view in the West Island;

- on Aug. 20, our pick for the best chicken wings will be ready to fly;

- on Aug. 27, the Best of the West will cool down with the best hot beverage in town, just in time for the beginning of fall.

Make sure to get your submissions for the best pizza in by June 11 to give our taste testers time to choose the best pie. Nominations for all the other categories are welcome at all times.
