Thanksgiving Choral Concert
On Thanksgiving Sunday, the German Choir of Montreal hosted an evening of choral music at St. Sixte Church, featuring two visiting choirs from the Westfalia region of Germany.
A male choir of 60 voices and a mixed choir of 66 voices that form the Saengerkreis Halle choir association joined the German Choir of Montreal to present a programme of sacred music and traditional German and Canadian songs.
The newly appointed Consul General of Germany, Joerg Metger, and local MP Stéphane Dion were among some of the dignitaries in attendance. Juergen Wolff and Reinhard Haase, former mayors of the respective municipalities of Halle and Harsewinkel in Westfalia, were also on hand to enjoy the concert.
The German Choir of Montreal have been based in Saint-Laurent for the past 20 years and rehearse Monday evenings at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Decarie. New members are always welcome. For more information: 514 747-0257. (AB)
