Activities at the legion
Remembrance Day and Cenotaph ceremonies will take place on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11 am at Beaudet Park. The 2006 Poppy Campaign is officially under way! Look for Veterans and members selling poppies in malls and stores all over Saint-Laurent and make a donation. Activities of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 98 in Saint-Laurent are open to the public. Beauty of Iceland
Beth Ora Seniors invites the public to an afternoon with David Franklin, lawyer and Consul for Iceland, who will discuss "Iceland-Fire and Ice" with a movie presentation. Marathon of love
The Hellenic Ladies Benevolant Society's "Marathon Agapi" (Marathon of love) fundraiser radiothon will take place on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 am to 2 pm on station CFMB 1280 AM. Donations can be made at that time by calling the station at 514 483-2362. Tax receipts will be mailed to all donors. Four 84 years, the HLBS philanthtopic mission has been to provide emergency financial assistance to underprivileged Greek families in greater Montreal, including Saint-Laurent. Over 300 families benefit each year from these programs financed entirely by public donations. Donations are accepted at any time at 514 344-1666.
Bike donation drive
On Nov. 11 between 10 am and 1 pm, Saint-Laurent residents are invited to bring out their used bikes to Marianopolis students who will be at the Raymond Bourque Arena (2345 Thimens) to collect them. In collaboration with Cycle North-South, the students will put the old bikes to good use by shipping them off to community organizations in Africa and Latin America. A minimum $10 donation is requested per bicycle donated. Tax receipts given. Free trade products will be sold on site. Info: Marie-Andrée Payeur at 514 843-0077.
Wooden Mosaic
The Musée des Maîtres et Artisans du Québec (615 Sainte-Croix Ave.) will hold a family workshop on Saturday, Nov. 11 and Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2 pm, for parents and their children, aged 3 and up. Arrange exotic wood samples together and create a dynamic mosaic. Reservations required at 514 747-7367, ext. 7204.
Senior Citizen's neighbourhood association
If you like to play bridge, cribbage or bingo, come and join our group at the Saint-Laurent YMCA (1745 Decarie) on Wednesday afternoons at 1 pm. Dues are $10 a year. Vélogik's Earn-a-bike program is back
