Exhibition On Creativity
From Thursday, December 7, 2006 to February 4, 2007, the Musée des Maîtres et Artisans of Quebec presents the exhibition On Creativity, artworks by seven Montreal scenic painters. On a film set or in a design studio, one easily recognizes scenic painters. Men, in a great majority, since the work is physically demanding... dressed in clothes literally covered by paint stains.

Less well known, is the fact that many, at the end of a work day, do not change their clothes and return to their own private studio to continue to paint, only this time for the sheer pleasure, simply because of the intrinsic necessity to create. In Montreal, there are more than a hundred, who on the one hand sell their talent by the hour to paint film, theatre and opera decors and on the other hand, in the time that remains, pursue their personal artistic endeavors. The curator, Linda Benguigui, without pretending to have exhausted this subject, met with more than 30 scenic painters and presents us with the work of seven of them: Daniel Barkley, Patrick Barnwell, Paul Bourgault, Christian Corvellec, Dominique Gaucher, Vasil Nikov and Frederick Ouellet. The vernissage will be held on Thursday, December 7, at 5:30.
