A Great Team at Vanier wins the Gold Medal In the Vanier College BDC Case Challenge 2007
Gilbert Héroux, Director General of Vanier College is proud to announce that the Vanier team won the Gold Medal in the Vanier College BDC Case Challenge 2007 held on Saturday February 17.
“Vanier College has always been known for its excellence in education and once again the quality of the organization of the event and the performance of the students and the teachers involved in this competition is remarkable,” says Gilbert Héroux. “The whole college community is as proud as I am of the win by our team in this interprovincial college event.”
Key to the success of the competition is BDC sponsorship. “Partnerships with business and government organizations are crucial for our institution and our programs and we welcome them with open arms”, says George Archer, Vanier College Faculty Dean of Applied Technologies. “The Vanier BDC Case Challenge is an outstanding example of the rich benefits of the collaboration between an arm of our government and an educational institution. We are deeply grateful for BDC support and encouragement.”
“At BDC, we believe in the importance of education,” said Jason Moscovitz, BDC’s Vice President, Public Affairs. “With the Vanier College BDC Case Challenge we are able to give tomorrow’s leaders tools to succeed in the business world while fostering entrepreneurship at the same time.”
The winning Vanier team was comprised of Business Administration students, Aristina Quintanilla, Ana Victoria Cifuentes, and Kyriaki Stefanakis, with Jimmy Mikedis as team alternate. “Through this competition” says Aristina Quintanilla, “I have evolved into a confident young woman who feels ready to perform in today’s business world. I have the necessary presentation skills and invaluable marketing knowledge.” For Ana Victoria Cifuentes, “The BDC Case Challenge has opened new doors for me. I had the chance to meet important people in business. Networking is a way to get to the top and this event gave me that chance.”
In all, eight colleges competed in this first interprovincial collegiate case competition: Vanier, John Abbott, Champlain, Dawson, from Quebec and Seneca, Centennial, St. Lawrence and Algonquin from Ontario. This year the Silver Medal went to Dawson College and the Bronze went to Algonquin College.
