Pierre Barnoti, director of the SPCA, and the mayor of the borough of Saint-Laurent present a new partnership that will help reuniting missing pets and their owners.
A Lost Pets section on Saint-Laurent’s Web site
While redesigning its Web site a few weeks ago, the Borough of Saint-Laurent took the opportunity to add a Lost Pets section. The section, offered in collaboration with the Montréal SPCA promises to greatly facilitate efforts aimed at reuniting missing pets and their owners.
Residents of Saint-Laurent will be able, first of all, to visit the Borough’s Web site and look at photos of animals recently found in the borough by the SPCA and whose owners could not be traced. Secondly, residents will have the opportunity to post a picture of their own lost pet on the site. To do so, they simply need to bring a photo of their pet to the Citizens’ Office, located at 777, boulevard Marcel-Laurin in Saint-Laurent, during regular business hours. It should be noted that each picture will appear on the Web site for five days and that written descriptions will contain only limited information in order to safeguard confidential details necessary to ensure that pets are returned to their rightful owners.
Residents who have lost a pet are urged to consult the Web site as often as possible because they have only five days to claim an animal being held by the SPCA. After five days, the SPCA can dispose of the animal as per the organization’s internal policies, which include putting animals up for adoption.
