Herzliah High School only Canadian high school to receive Avi Chai Technology Experiment Grant
UTT/Herzliah web supervisor and Herzliah Judaic Studies teacher Joseph Fima secured an Educational Technology Experiment Grant from the Avi Chai Foundation.
The application for the development of SMART board products for the school was one of 185 worldwide proposals submitted for this unique grant program. Only 18 projects were funded with Herzliah being the only Canadian high school and one of just 4 high schools in North America developing SMART Board projects receiving this funding.
The criteria for the grant were that the funds must be applied to enhancing the teaching of Judaic Studies in Jewish day schools through creative use of technology and innovation. The Herzliah submission focused on developing SMART Board modules for the instruction and teaching of Tanach, Navi, Ivrit b'Ivrit and Jewish history to students as well as for the addition of a pedagogic center to the school's website. These ready-to-use SMART Board modules will be available to Judaic Studies teacher to download and instantly use in their courses beginning in the fall of 2007.
