Council highlights

Most people will remember this year’s December 4 because of the snowstorm, but on this day, there was also the monthly borough council meeting. At that occasion, a good number of public calls for tenders and contracts were awarded. A three-year action plan for the equality of access to employment of the borough was adopted and the bimonthly police reports were handed in.

During the public question period, two citizens once again brought up the issue of the Cavendish boulevard opening and its repercussions on the Toupin boulevard neighbourhood. One of them mentioned that it was difficult getting out of her house’s parking spot because there’s too much traffic. She asked for more police presence. “We’re waiting for Techsult [transports consultation firm] to hand in its report before making any decision and it won’t be available until next summer. In the meantime, we ordered studies for specific areas to see if we could do something sooner,” answered borough Mayor Alan DeSousa.
