Noise regulation

The news on the Agreement on urbanization regulations of March 2 are totally disappointing where noise pollution is concerned.

It is mentioned that new buildings will be the subject of a special study, "ensuring sound levels will not go above 45 decibels in the units (40 decibels for bedrooms)."

When the World Health Organization, amongst others, considers that outside noise exceeding 45 decibels can be bothersome and that inside bedrooms, noise should not be higher than 30 decibels, it is poor practice on the part of our city and boroughs - if not almost dishonest - to use such standards and consider them good urban planning.
