Improvements made to community centre
On April 22, members of a team from the Aldo Group came out to the Bon Courage Community Centre in Saint-Laurent’s Place Benoit to work on making improvements.
For the third consecutive year, the team chose four Montreal organizations considered to be essential for the local community. This time it was the Place Benoit Centre.
The team undertook to restore the appearance of the building by collecting garbage from the premises, planting trees and landscaping the grounds. New garden tables helped make the place more pleasant and welcoming, bringing with a true breath of freshness. Concerning the Centre itself, it also got a very new look. Throughout the day on April 22, painting, decoration, installation of new pieces of furniture and restoring others were carried out as part of the program.
All this in less than ten hours.
A true bargain for this sector which has, since September 2006, benefited from an integrated urban revitalization project. The borough council from April approved the granting of public allocations within the framework of the RUI program. Approximately 750 people reside at Place Benoit, a residential complex of 240 residences dating back to 1953. Moreover, the area borders an industrial sector of Saint-Laurent. The Bon Courage community centre is a place which provides support to families. It offers workshops, homework assistance, access to computers and the Internet and leisure activities.
